About

To the Nile is a collection of jewelry and print pieces inspired my heritage as well as a tribute to the past, present and future. Each piece is handcrafted with care and pays tribute to our ancestors, "I believe our ancestors play one of the most important roles today in our existence, if it weren't for their sacrifice we wouldn't be here today honored with the gift to create."
An Artist of Love; Human at heart
Katra Awad is an artist and self-taught jewelry designer born in Southern California and raised traveling abroad. As the daughter of Egyptian and Hispanic parents, she draws deeply from her multicultural roots, creating thoughtfully designed pieces from her home studio.
Her work extends beyond her own practice: she has taught design and art-therapeutic workshops internationally for women and children with limited access to art, language, and education. She has collaborated with non-profit organizations including Priyam Global, serving as an in-house guest artist in Chennai, India, and she has taught Business English to artisan women in Teotitlán del Valle, Oaxaca.
Katra has also reconnected with her Mexican heritage through studies focused on cultural preservation, social awareness, and pre-Hispanic architecture.
Her past creative work includes: designing a wellness journal book cover; providing prop styling and photography for sustainable brands and artisan businesses; talent scouting for a New York City casting director; art direction; and developing a jewelry collection featured in the California Center for the Arts gift shop in conjunction with the exhibition Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nicholas Murray.
